About the PSAI
The Puget Sound Academic Index (PSAI) is a straightforward, independent 1-to-10 rating that shows general test proficiency for local public school districts.

Instead of using hidden corporate algorithms like big real estate search sites, the PSAI uses direct public records from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

How It's Calculated: We look at the actual percentage of students in the district who met or exceeded grade-level standards on the state's math and reading/writing assessments. We average those two scores together and place them on a clear 10-point scale so you can make an easy, honest comparison.

License Plate Readers (ALPR): Local cameras that scan license plates to help track vehicle locations.

Traffic Cameras: Automated speed and red-light enforcement cameras (this doesn't include normal state highway traffic flow cameras).

Public Space Cameras (CCTV): Standard public security or property monitoring camera networks.

Software Systems: Tech platforms or tracking systems used by local agencies to monitor public safety data.
